Fall Camporee Update

Based on feedback from several members, we are opening up Fall Camporee to families. This means that girls have the option of attending either with a troop following GSHPA girl/adult ratios or with their family.

Adults attending as part of a family are NOT required to be registered and cleared Troop Activities Chaperones in order to stay overnight with their families. Unregistered adults do not count towards ratios for any troop that they are affiliated with. Families with unregistered adults attending will be sleeping in a different section of the camp than troops that are following ratios.

Please feel free to email camp@statecollegegirlscouts.org if you have any questions about this update! We hope that all our girls will be able to enjoy a fun day at camp, either with their troop or their family.

Fall Camporee and Bridging

All troops from Service Units 416 and 422 are invited to Camp Anderson for an unstructured camporee to just hang out, work on a badge, and generally do their own thing. No programming other than scheduling limited resources (e.g., archery, fishing) is provided.

We will hold our annual Service Unit Bridging, Rededication, and Investiture Ceremony on September 25 at 3PM during camporee. Family members are welcome to join us for this ceremony.

Registration will open on August 1 and run through September 4th.

Camp 2022

It feels like 2021 just got started, but we do need to start thinking about 2022. GSHPA SU 416 is looking for a new camp home and volunteers to join the camp committee. The Service Unit is 100% volunteer run and is only able to host outdoor camp events with your help.

The camp committee is currently considering Black Moshannon State Park and Camp Anderson for 2022. Due to the size of full Service Unit events, we will need to make our reservations six months to a year out. If you know of any other sites that can host 100+ Girl Scouts or thoughts on those 2 sites, please let us know!

We would also love to hear your thoughts on what kinds of camp events you want to see from the Service Unit this fall and winter.

Please contact the camp committee if you have something to share!

In the meantime, we hope to see you at one of our many camp events this summer and fall:

Outdoor Event Updates

We hope to see all our G.I.R.L.s Get Outside! We have small events planned for each level throughout the summer and can’t wait to see everyone again.

Be sure to check out the Spring Outdoor Challenge and don’t forget about the Girl Scout Park Puzzler on May 22nd!

Outdoor Fun at Bald Eagle State Park

Registration for all our summer Outdoor Fun Days at Bald Eagle State Park opens on May 1!

Daisies will join us on June 5 for either Daisy Trail Adventurer (morning) or Outdoor Art Maker (afternoon).

Brownies will join us on June 12 for either Letterboxer (morning) or Outdoor Art Creator (afternoon).

Juniors will join us on June 26 for either Geocacher (morning) or Outdoor Art Explorer (afternoon).

Cadettes will join us on July 17 for a full day of Outdoor Art Apprentice and other camp activities.

For Daisies, a parent or other responsible adult is expected to stay on site to help with their Daisy if needed.

For Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes, these are drop off events. Troops are NOT required to provide supervising adults and parents, while welcome, are not required to stay. If you are a registered and cleared GSHPA Troop Activity Chaperone who would like to help with these events, please contact the camp committee.

If you are bridging and register for both your current level and your next level, you will be waitlisted so that we can ensure all girls have an opportunity to attend one event. You can indicate your preference in the registration comments.
