2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Park Forest Baptist Church
Uniform Class A
The 2020 World Thinking Day theme is “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.” Our Service Unit will gather to celebrate on April 25 from 2-4 pm at Park Forest Baptist Church. This year we are celebrating on a Saturday! This may open up possibilities for the Scouts to have time to do the cooking, prep, and set up.
Each troop will pick a country to represent with a display, snack, swap, and any other artifacts they choose. Younger troops may choose to be Tourists and just visit the other countries. More details about how to prepare for the event will be available soon.
The fee will be $6 per Scout. Adults are free. This covers the venue rental, sound assistance, patch, supplies (passport, pencils, snackware). Payment needs to be received before April 1, 2020 in check or cash to Troop 40416, sent to below address (way below).
Historically, we only need an hour and a half for the event. If there is remaining time and the Scouts have toured all the countries, we will have a group sing along. If your troop is interested in leading a song, please let me know. Troops may leave or stay but as always, the leaders are responsible for their Scouts.
“Every year on February 22, Girl Scouts and Girl Guides across 150 countries come together to celebrate World Thinking Day. What began in 1926 at Camp Edith Macy as a day to recognize and honor worldwide sisterhood continues as a Girl Scout tradition to raise awareness of issues that impact girls and young women across the globe.
During World Thinking Day, girls have the opportunity to connect with girls all over the world by doing the same activities around a shared theme. The 2020 World Thinking Day theme is “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.” This year’s theme highlights the diversity, equity, and inclusion reflected in the Girl Scout and Girl Guide movement, and calls attention to the ways that girls can work to make their communities more diverse, equitable, and inclusive.”
