Blue Bird Conservation

GSHPA Troop 40170 Daisies spent this past year working on their 3 Cheers for Animals Journey. For their Red Robin Project, they completed a Blue Bird conservation program with the Pennsylvania Game Commission during which they learned why blue birds are important to Pennsylvania and received blue bird box kits. The troop then received permission from Harris Township and installed three boxes in Nittany View Park. The birds are already utilizing their new homes!

Brave Beanie Project: Troop 40418

Girl Scout Troop 40418 did a virtual party with The Brave Beanie Project, a local organization,  and made 6 beanies. The beanies will go to kids across the country who are chronically ill or have disabilities. What a fun and meaningful project!

This is a great service project for ages 10 and up. No special skills are needed, and the organization provided all of the supplies and ran a 1 hour Google class for us. The hat part of the beanies are crocheted by volunteers; and our girls put on the yarn hair with a crochet hook and then styled it.

Gabriel Patches

As part of their Bronze Project, girls from Troop 40170 designed a Gabriel Patch for girls who want to help expectant mothers. Girls can earn this patch by learning about organizations that help expectant or new mothers and then helping expectant or new mothers either by volunteering time or donating supplies.

Proceeds from the patch sale will be used to buy supplies for the Gabriel Project at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. The Gabriel Project works with women in crisis pregnancies to provide them with needed supplies and support. Troops wishing to learn more about the OLV Gabriel Project can email

Memorial Day 2021

Thank you to all the troops and families who helped us honor our fallen soldiers by either laying flowers in the cemetery or participating in the walk to the graves during the Boalsburg Memorial Weekend activities.

Throughout the weekend, Girl Scouts and their families stopped by the cemetery to lay flowers and pay their respects to our fallen.  On Monday evening, we joined the vintage ladies, Scouts BSA, and the Boalsburg Fire Company in walking to the cemetery from the town center to patriciate in a short ceremony.
