Looking for a new local trail to hike with your Troop or family this summer? Try the Black Moshannon Moss-Hanne Trail. Starting this trail from Beaver Road and heading in toward trail marker #6 (which is also the part of the trail that overlaps with the Allegheny Front Trail) will take you through three different biomes – a boardwalk bog that feels very much like a tropical area followed by the fern forest, and finally a sparse floored pine forest area where it can be tricky to find your yellow trail blazes. It is a quick hike with minimal elevation changes, doable for all ages. Happy hiking!
Cadette Troop 40421 recently took a tour of the State College High School aquaponics lab! Aquaponics is a food production system that couples aquaculture (raising aquatic animals like fish in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponically grown plants! Cadettes were able to meet the fish used in the system as well as do some planting!
Special thanks to senior Stella G. for taking the time to teach the Cadettes about this awesome system and given them a wonderful tour of the high school lab!Continue reading “State College High School Aquaponics Tour”

If you have been out doing cookie booths, we encourage you to add data to the Service Unit Cookie Booth Sales Predictor. This tool can also help you plan your upcoming booths. The more information we feed the predictor, the more accurate it will be!
We also want to hear what your troop is up to! Please email a photo and explanation to email@example.com if you have something you would like us to share with the rest of the State College Girl Scout Community. Whether it was a hike, a visit to the Fire Station, a badge event, or a community service project, we want to celebrate our sisterhood and the great things you are doing!
As you go about cookie booths this season, be sure to contribute to the SU416 Cookie Booth Sales Predictor! After your booth, let us know where you were and how many boxes of each cookie you sold. This information will help other troops plan for their upcoming booths!
