State College High School Aquaponics Tour

Cadette Troop 40421 recently took a tour of the State College High School aquaponics lab! Aquaponics is a food production system that couples aquaculture (raising aquatic animals like fish in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water) whereby the nutrient-rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponically grown plants! Cadettes were able to meet the fish used in the system as well as do some planting!

Special thanks to senior Stella G. for taking the time to teach the Cadettes about this awesome system and given them a wonderful tour of the high school lab!
