State College Girl Scouts is going to Savannah, GA in June 2019! If you will be a Cadette or older for the 2019 school year and would like to travel with us but missed the April meeting, please plan to attend the meeting on Sunday, May 6th at Gray’s United Methodist Church, 5687 Buffalo Run Rd, Port Matilda from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Girls and adults will be choosing their top picks for what we should do while in Savannah.
A non-refundable deposit of $100/person is due by June 1st, along with a signed financial contract and a code of conduct. The first 50 people to register will get spots, so don’t delay. Registration will open May 6th at 7:00 p.m. and continue until full. We will be doing fundraising to help defray the cost of the trip.

On Thursday, March 15th a group of girls and adults met for an informational meeting about a June 2019 trip to Savannah, Georgia–a charming southern city and the Birthplace of Girl Scouts. Travel dates are not yet set but will be sometime between June 15th and June 23rd, 2019.

We are exploring interest in organizing an older girl (Cadettes+) trip to Savannah, Georgia in the summer of 2019. Activities would include visiting the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, the first Girl Scout Headquarters, museums, historic sites, scientific natural areas, riverboat trip on the Savannah River, ghost tours, shopping, and visiting the beach at Tybee Island.

We are establishing an initiative for older girl scouts (8th grade +) to complete a Service Unit level Camp Leadership Training program. Completing the program will allow the girls to plan and facilitate activities at our summer and fall camporees. Girls who are part of this team will be charged the lower adult rate in addition to accumulating service hours. Running camp programs will also provide demonstrable leadership skills that will enhance your college applications and resumes.
Our first CLT event will take place during the Daisy/Brownie Winter Camping Weekend at Camp Golden Pond Jan. 26 – 28. Register by Dec 10 for reduced rate ($10 per girl or adult); final registration deadline is Dec 22 ($15 per girl or adult). We need at least 12 participants in order to cover lodge rental for the weekend. 7th- and 6th- grade cadettes who are mature and experienced campers may participate if accompanied by at least 1 cleared adult per troop.

Cadettes, come join us for a Breathe! Journey Weekend on 10/27/2017 - 10/29/2017!
Are you planning to earn your Silver Award but still need to complete a Journey? Join us for the Breathe Journey Weekend. We will explore the Air Around Us in multiple ways including kite flying, baking, aromatherapy, and yoga. We’ll talk about pollution, careers related to air, and how we can work to reduce air/noise/light pollution. The Take Action portion will be included in the weekend so girls who attend will leave with the Journey complete.
The Journey is open to all girls in grades 6-8 who are registered Girl Scouts. Troops need to provide adult leadership to maintain proper ratios. Girls attending without a troop will be assigned to a group for the weekend to ensure proper ratios are in place.
We need adult helpers, especially if you have an “air” related talent. Leaders and parents will be asked to run stations, assist with cooking, supervise girls, and other responsibilities as needed. Please come prepared to be useful. All adults who spend the night must meet all GSHPA guidelines for registration and clearances.
Cost is $45 for girls which includes cost of Legacy rental, Journey supplies and activities, all food, and the Journey Badges (which are $6 each) and $15 for adults (to cover cost of food and Legacy rental).
Please register by September 30th. Rosters and payment due by September 30th.
