The new Girl Scout year begins October 1. In addition to communication from GSHPA, our Service Unit is working hard to facilitate communication among our troops, families, and prospective members though our website, email, and social media.
If you are a troop leader, please check your listing in our Troop Directory and make sure it is accurate for the upcoming year. Our directory is NOT synchronized with the GSHPA opportunity catalog and is entirely maintained by troop leaders. The directory is used by prospective parents, external organizations looking to do outreach work, or other troops looking for collaboration opportunities.
Newsletter and Bulk Emails
We are trying to tailor our bulk emails such as event registration reminders and announcements to better target interested girls and adults. To that end, we would encourage you to look at your email subscription profile and make sure that it is accurate regarding your registration status, troop number(s), scout level, and activity interests.
All bulk emails from us will have a link to update your preferences at the bottom of the email. You can also modify your profile by logging onto www.statecollegegirlscouts.org and modifying the subscription settings of your profile.
Our system is not synchronized with GSHPA, so if you want to use a different email address for our emails, you can. Remember, you can only have one profile per email address.
We would also encourage everyone to follow State College Girl Scouts on Facebook for Service Unit announcements and updates. You are also welcome to join the private group GSHPA Community 416 to connect with other troop leaders from the State College Area.
Black Moshannon is offering a free USA Archery Level 1 certification class on September 30. Contact Black Moshannon at 814-342-5960 or email@example.com to register or with questions.
Having this certification will allow you to facilitate an archery activity for Girl Scouts.
Registration for the 2017 Fall Camporee will be closing on Sep. 3rd! So far we have 75 girls from 19 different troops attending and hope you are just as excited for Mythological Madness as we are.
If you are not yet registered and want to spend the night at camp, we do have limited beds available. If there are not enough overnight spaces available for your troop, and you would like to camp in tents, contact the camp committee so we can make sure we have an appropriate space for your group.
If you are already registered, please submit your rosters as soon as possible! Our cooking team needs to know about any allergies or dietary restrictions for both girls AND adults as soon as possible.
Troops without rosters submitted will have their reservations canceled. All overnight adults must be registered members of GSHPA and have all child protection clearances on file with GSHPA. Let us know if you have questions. If your troop has unregistered adults, their ability to stay overnight may be in jeopardy.
Unregistered adults may not supervise children who are not their own and may not stay overnight.
Just came from Fall Product training. New this year to help the process–the fall product manager form is online! You may submit it at any time. If you are the Fall Product Sale Troop Liaison for your troop, please follow this link and complete the form ASAP. You must complete the on line form and be registered for the 2017/18 year and this needs to be confirmed by GSHPA before I can give you any material. I plan to have training on Monday, September 11th in the evening and Sunday, September 17th in the afternoon – time and place TBA.
Is anyone interested in holding a fall product rally? Any questions, let me know.
Also please email me or message me with your contact information if you are the fall product sale liaison for your troop.
Please include your troop number in all correspondences with me.

Our next Service Unit Planning meeting will be on Aug 27th at 6:00 at the Girl Scout office in the Hamilton Plaza shopping center – 216 W. Hamilton Ave, State College. Susan Smith, our membership coordinator, will distribute volunteer incentives at that time. If you are unable to attend, please ask another adult from your troop to go so your group won’t miss getting important information about the upcoming troop year!
